3 Dumb Reasons NOT to Buy Travel Insurance
1. Don’t want to jinx the trip
Planning for the worst case scenario does not guarantee a worst case scenario. I understand the belief that putting negative ideas into the world makes negative things happen but when it comes to travel insurance this belief does not hold water. If anything not having travel insurance would jinx the trip. When you buy travel insurance you are being proactive, protecting your vacation and telling the universe that you are prepared to handle whatever comes up before or during the trip.
2. Trying to save money
Without travel insurance if anything happens and your vacation is canceled you will lose a lot of money. Buying travel insurance when booking a vacation— even though it adds to the overall cost in the moment, will end up saving you a ton of money and hassle in the long run if you end up needing to use it. Gil Travel is a reputable travel agency known for quality and competitive rates. They work hard to save their clients as much money as possible where they can, but Gil Travel adamantly recommends buying travel insurance.
Travel insurance also helps protect you against more than just trip cancellation. Travel insurance should also protect you against the financial impact of trip interruption or delay, baggage loss, damage to baggage, or delay of baggage upon arrival, emergency sickness or accident, medical evacuation, repatriation, and even for emergencies related to pre-existing conditions.
3. Belief that travel insurance is a scam
Travel insurance is absolutely not a scam. Good travel insurance should come with a variety of additional services designed to give you a better overall travel experience. Some of the services that you can expect from an upstanding travel insurance provider include 24/7 access to help with Visas and various visa requirements, cash transfers, lost tickets or passports, contacting local medical care and emergency medical assistance in the event of an accident or emergency, and even dining suggestions!
Having good travel insurance is an investment in piece of mind when planning and going on a vacation. Gil Travel has 40 years of experience in coordinating every detail of your trip but even with all of our experience we know that things happen. We would like to believe that we can plan away any unexpected circumstances through an incredibly detailed itinerary that is unfortunately just not the case. No matter how long the trip has been in the works for or how detailed the itinerary is, things do sometimes come up last minute.
Travel insurance keeps a bump in the road during your vacation from becoming a roadblock. You should never make plans to fly without it.
