Baharat … The spice that adds a rich dimension of flavor to Israeli cooking.

CULINARY IN ISRAEL …

Spices in Israel: Baharat Recipe … A delicious spice commonly used in
Israeli and Middle Eastern Cooking. Here ia an easy recipe to make and use the next time you cook meat or poultry. Baharat actually means “spices” in Arabic.

Mix the following ground ingredients and keep in an airtight container.
1 tbsp cardamom

1 tbsp ginger

½ tbsp nutmeg

1 tbsp black pepper

1 tbsp cinnamon

½ tbsp allspice*

 If you don’t have allspice on hand, you can
make your own by combining 2 parts cinnamon with one part ground nutmeg and one part ground cloves.
