What’s Happening at Gil Travel?

19th Maccabiah Games 19th Maccabiah Games

The Gil Travel team is gearing up for the upcoming winter season of Taglit Birthright Israel®. Since registration opened a few days ago, thousands of young Jewish adults have already signed up and Birthright is expecting another sell out season. Next summer, Taglit Birthright Israel® hopes to increase the number of participants by a few thousand.

This past summer, our General Office Manager Sharon spent the month of July in Israel for the 19th Maccabiah Games to make sure that everything ran as smoothly as possible.  This is what she had to say about the experience: “The experience I had at the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel was AMAZING! Being part of the Gil Travel team who worked passionately to make sure all the athletes and families had a successful trip and games was so rewarding!  It was wonderful to see the athletes and participants enjoy the trip of lifetime that my colleagues and I helped create! Seeing the joy on people’s faces is the reason why we (Gil Travel) do what we do and being able to witness that in person makes it all worthwhile!”

The Maccabiah Games are the world’s largest Jewish athletic competition but its mission is much more than to provide an arena for competition.  The Maccabi experience offers the opportunity for Jewish teens and adults from around the world to connect through sports.  The next set of games is scheduled for Berlin in the summer of 2015 and then in Santiago, Chile in December of 2015.
