HERODION … To the south of JERUSALEM in the JUDEAN HILLS is one of the top historical and archaeological sites in ISRAEL! Like some famous counterparts only one person is to be credited for this and that would be KING HEROD (ruling from 37-4 BCE) who might be called “The Great” simply on the basis of architectural achievement. In this case HEROD completely changed the natural landscape in order to elevate his palace to a lofty place.
